The problem of teaching written Russian (reading and writing) to adults in the Kola North in the twentieth century

The article presents analysis of the Murmansk press and archive materials of the first half of the 20th century. The article describes the problems of teaching written Russian (reading and writing) of the adult population in the Kola north in the twentieth century. The study identifies the difficulties and specifics of the implementation of the program to eliminate illiteracy, due to both the political and economic situation in the country and the specific conditions of our region.
