Comparative analysis of translations of the fairy tale by Lewis Carroll “Alice’s adventures in wonderland” (based on the chapter IX the mock turtle’s story)

The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of translations of the fairy tale “Alice Adventures in Wonderland” by L. Carroll. The uniqueness of the fairy-tale genre and peculiarities of the English language encourage further study of important aspects of translation theory, in particular, the problem of “untranslatability”. The problems of “untranslatability” concern names and titles, phraseological units, word on play, extra linguistic information. Defining ways and methods of translation used by N. Demurova, B. Zahoder, L. Jahnin allows the author of the article to represent the translating solutions in the theory of “untranslatability” and translations assessment as well.
