Preaching activity of the orthodox clergy postwar period (1946-1953)

the article analyzes the preaching activity of the Orthodox clergy in the post-war period. The main purpose of the article is to determine the nature and types of sermons. By means of the comparative-analytical method of research, the author managed to analyze the published texts of the Church sermons published mainly on the pages of the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate for 1946-1953, and also to reveal their character. The necessity of the study of preaching as an object of study for historical science. Based on the specifics of the types and genres of homiletic works of the clergy, this or that sermon should have been as clear and accessible as possible to explain the gospel stories, which had instructive, explanatory, religious-philosophical, descriptive-narrative coloring. Some sermons were political in character. In conclusion, the author comes to the conclusion that the preaching activity of the clergy in the post-war period was the only legal form of "religious propaganda".
