The structure and function of the form of the word in the works of Russian and foreign linguists

The article aims to consider the concept and forms of the term "word form" in a broader and narrower sense. According to the research results of leading Russian and foreign linguists, the analysis of internal and external forms of language is carried out. We take examples from German and English (let's compare Uhr, watch) and conduct evidence that these words are the same (watch as a noun and as a verb), but at the same time and different word forms. Through its form, a certain word is able to point us to the signs (syntactic, forming), which can accurately determine its overall meaning in the sentence.
