The problematic field of the history of private land ownership and its legal registration in the Belarusian lands is one of the most controversial in modern Russian science. For a long time, historiography did not provide comprehensive coverage of the issues of formation, legal status, management of private property in Belarus from the time of the first state formations in the IX century to the revolutionary events of the early XX century. At the same time, historical science has a number of works of an earlier period devoted to the evolution of feudal land ownership in the Belarusian lands, without which modern achievements, analysis and conclusions of Russian historiography would be impossible.
