The use of phraseological units in teaching English in non-linguistic university

In this article, three types of phraseological units proposed by academician V.V. Vinogradov from the point of view of their semantic unity, and the fourth type put forward by professor N.М. Shansky based on reproducible idioms, were analyzed and illustrated on the material of the English-Russian phraseological dictionary by A.V. Kunin. The role of phraseological units in speech, the importance of their study for understanding the English mentality and culture were noted, as they represent a significant layer of the English language and are very common, as well as the relevance of their use in the practical classes of a foreign language in high school was noted. The author selected a set of exercises aimed at mastering phraseological units.
