Military grave cataloguing project as an effective approach to military memorial work abroad

Tryakin Alexei Nikolayevich  (Acting head of the Russian Defence Ministry Commemoration Office in the Czech Republic; Third secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Czech Republic; Russian Defence Ministry Fallen Military Personnel Commemoration Department, Russia, Moscow )

The article offers ideas and proposals underlying a project designed to improve the military commemoration work abroad. The basic concept of the project is the cooperation with sister cities and military glory cities via the establishing of self-governed voluntary non-profit military history search associations (clubs) under the auspices of military schools, civil colleges and universities and military academies. The emphasis of the work will be placed on remote work with archives uploaded on the Memorial and Memory of the People integrated databases in the format of the tasks prepared by the Russian Defence Ministry Commemoration Office in the Czech Republic. The article suggests that similar groups be set up to include Czech activists and civil society organisations traditionally participating in military memorial work, including Russians residing in the Czech Republic.
