The article deals with issues connected with teaching speaking skills in the process of a foreign language acquisition. It describes the storytelling method, its purpose, provides its classification and results of its effective application. The authors present various technologies of using storytelling, as well as possibilities for the active involvement of students in the process of creating and telling a story.
