The developments of the Southern US economy on the eve of the Civil war of 1861–1865

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of the economic development of the South of the United States on the eve of the Civil war and the analysis of the impact of the industrial revolution on its specifics. The author concludes that even the weakened path of industrial development in the South leads to the consolidation in the southern States mainly agricultural, slave-owning way of development in the economy and contributed to the rapid development of cotton production. The success of the development of the economy of the South lead to the growth of political activity of the South and the growth of separatist sentiment that is clearly expressed in the work Nashville Convention of 1850. The result was a political crisis in the US Democratic Party and the beginning of its political split.
