The U. S. Armed Forces stereotypes in the mirror of American printed media as exemplified by the metaphorical model “U. S. Armed Forces is family”

Based on the theory of metaphorical modeling and descriptor theory of metaphor, the author makes an attempt to analyze metaphorical models of the American military-political discourse dedicated to the U.S. Armed Forces. The object of scientific research focuses on the U.S. printed mass media disseminating in the military-political discourse positive social stereotypes on the U.S. Armed Forces and GI’s moral image. The subject area dwells on metaphorical images of the U.S. military as exemplified by the metaphorical model “U.S. ARMED FORCES is FAMILY”. This article is intended for philologists and a broad audience.
