Transformation of leisure of the urban population of the Tobolsk province at the end of the XIX – the beginning of the XX century

The aim of the article is to study the transformation of leisure of residents of the cities of Tobolsk province at the turn of XIX-XX centuries. We believe that it was at this time, under the influence of modernization processes that took place in the country, the leisure of citizens underwent significant changes. Among the tasks facing us were: the identification of traditions and innovations in the cultural and leisure sphere of the urban population; the analysis of the role of the public in the ongoing transformations; the display of the process of the emergence of urban mass culture. The study found that at the turn of XIX-XX centuries in the field of leisure of the townspeople of Tobolsk province was an important change: the combination of traditional forms of leisure innovation, the introduction of these new forms of the majority of inhabitants of urban settlements. It is also determined that the evolution of leisure and festive sphere was closely related to the activities of various public associations.
