Monitoring of results expected upon completion of a foreign language course for non-linguist university students

The paper discusses the main stages of conducting and the findings of monitoring research of the needs and results expected upon completion of a second language course by non-linguist university students. The research is aimed at clarifying the possibilities of inclusion of needs and wants of the main stakeholders – students and teachers of English – in the setting of objectives and the contents of a Second Language course design with regard for the transition to the new Federal State Educational Standard.
