Linguistic means of evaluation in American politicians’ public speeches

The article is devoted to the research of linguistic means of evaluation in USA politicians’ speeches. The analysis of texts of American politicians’ public speeches allowed to reveal such linguistic methods as the use of words and phrases with positive or negative connotations, manipulations of ideologically-modal lexicon and phraseology, the use of stylistic means of expression (metaphors, comparisons, allusions, etc.), special syntactic construction of phrases (word order, question constructions, etc.), which not only express the opinion and attitude of the addressee, but also have an impact on the audience by the hidden imposition of a system of values.
