Political theme in C. P. Snow’s academic novel The Masters

This article considers genesis of academic novel and its thematic properties shared with political novel which are represented C.P. Snow’s The Masters, first specimen of the genre. As study shows, academic novel has much in common with the tradition of political novel established in Victorian literature. British and American authors of the first academic novels appear to be engaged in political issues introduced by post-war years.
