Resonan affairs of magistrates at the beginning of judicial reform of 1864 of the Volga and Kama region

The article considers the period of commencement of the judicial reform of 1864 on the territory of the Volga-Kama region in the context of high-profile criminal cases. Analysis of materials of judicial practice has shown the need to improve the mechanism of judicial protection of violated rights and legitimate interests in criminal proceedings through judicial reforms. The way the legal rights of participants in criminal proceedings were implemented on the territory of the Volga-Kama region of the Russian Empire makes it possible to analyze the legal aspects and sociocultural phenomena that influenced it. This, in turn, will allow conclusions to be drawn about the prospects for the harmonization of national criminal law and international standards of justice.
