The word as a unit of nomination

In the article, the word is considered as a linguistic element, which is equally peculiar to both paradigmatic and syntagmatic connections. There is noted that the word belongs to two zones or two levels of language: the level of nomination and the level of syntax. The relation of form and content become as only relation of linguistic signs. For these qualities, the word is being examined as the nomination unit in the article.
