This paper discusses the creation and importance of the t-80 tank in military, scientific, technological and political aspects. In the second half of the twentieth century, the tank was a striking force of the land forces and ATS, and NATO, respectively, in the conditions of the "cold" war, armored forces with the best tanks had a great chance of winning or the potential to deter a likely enemy. And T-80 had the potential to be a weapon of superiority, his potential allowed him to take on this role in the theater of operations.
