To the question of the basic functional-stylistic characteristics and methods of formation of political slag of american periodic publications

The article is devoted to the description of functional-stylistic features and describes the word-building means of political slang formation in American mass media texts. The classification of American slang according to connotation is analyzed and statistics of the basic means of slang formation is given. The main means of slang formation are metaphorization, stem-composition, borrowings from a literary language and puns.
