— To fight or not to fight? The japanese army on the european front during the First world war

The Empire of Japan was predetermined a special role in the First World War. Remaining true to allied relations, she managed to avoid sending her soldiers to the European front, while strengthening her position in the Far Eastern region. The article attempts to reflect, on the one hand, the main diplomatic steps of the Entente countries aimed at attracting Japanese military forces to participate in the military on the European front, and on the other, a brilliant policy of evasion by Japanese politicians in this matter.
