Popova Evgeniya A.  (PhD, Assistant Professor, M. Thorez Institute of Foreign Languages, Moscow State Linguistic University)

The article deals with the comparative analysis of the semantics and pragmatics of words and clichés, which represent parts of the day in Russian and Spanish. Modern tendencies of day division and types of asymmetry in the stated semantic area of the Russian and Spanish languages are reflected by means of intercultural research. Our attention is mainly focused on how words denoting parts of the day are actualized in precise time constructions and greeting clichés. The analysis is aimed at the prevention and overcoming of possible communication difficulties which Russian native speakers face when studying Spanish temporal vocabulary.
