The comic category as a distinctive value of the U.S. military community

Irrespective of a field of intellectual and labor activities, any professional world view rests on a system of fundamental values. Warrior’s ethos is the core of the professional military world outlook. Professional ethos embraces a set of moral and ethical patterns of the military service. The object of this paper is the dimension of values of the military cohort of America’s society. The subject area is the U.S. military service members’ laughing culture which manifests itself through lexical and phraseological units of the professional sociolect. The analysis delivered in this paper concludes that the category of comic is one of the cornerstone values of the U.S. military milieu.
