Formation and development of the ecological direction in natural science education in Russia in the XVIII-early XX centuries

Recently, Russian education has been paying more and more attention to environmental issues, environmental problems of our time and ways to solve them. This article deals with the formation and development of environmental knowledge in the natural science education of domestic pre-revolutionary educational institutions. In this publication, the author analyzes the activities of outstanding scientists and teachers who have made an important contribution to the development of Russian environmental education. The materials presented in the study can also assist in the study of the history of Russian education.
