Preliminary stage of formation of the Nizhny Novgorod militia in July – August 1812

Based on the archival materials of the Central Archive of the Nizhny Novgorod Region (TSANO), this article discusses the features of the first stage of the Nizhny Novgorod marching militia in the era of 1812. On the basis of the office documentation, information is provided on the changes in the numerical composition of the militia, as well as data on the rules of the marching march in the context of changes in the strategic plans of the high command
