The article is devoted to the disclosure of the symbolism of numerical components in the paroemias of the Germanic languages (by the example of the English and German languages). As a result of the conducted analysis, the most frequently used numerical components are identified, and their classification according to the frequency of their usage in the paroemias of the English and German languages is presented. Primary attention is paid to the explanation of the symbolic meaning of numerical components in paroemias.
