On the question of the linguostylistic traditions of the industrial novel

The novel, occupies a central place in literature, constantly attracts the attention of researchers with its diversity, providing inexhaustible material for various kinds of humanitarian research. Possessing limitless possibilities, sensitively and quickly reacting to the surrounding reality, the novel constantly acquires new genre varieties, each of which has its own specifics. It is legitimate to refer to such varieties as a production novel. The immediate predecessor of which, was the early Victorian "industrial novel" aiming to reflect the difficult labor conditions of the working class during the industrial revolution. This article examines the key stages in the development of the genre of industrial prose in Western literature. Investigating the genesis of the production novel as a literary genre, as well as the factors that influenced the popularization of this genre within the framework of "mass literature", the author conventionally identifies two main linguostylistic directions of this development: "T. Deloney's line" and "P. Amp's line." Pierre Amp, who was subjected to massive criticism due to the lack of artistry and pronounced "journalism" of his works, and Thomas Deloney, who created many bright, individual, memorable characters in his four novels, were a kind of pioneers of the genre, within which various linguostylistic traditions were developed.
