Considering the financial support for the former King Edward VIII: The Fort Belvedere Agreement and its subsequent transformations

The purpose of this article is to review the conditions of financial settlement of the former King of Great Britain Edward VIII, which were established between the former king and his younger brother - the new King George VI - by the Fort Belvedere Agreement. Using a specific historical or ideographic (narrative) research method, the article traces the main modifications of the original agreement at Fort Belvedere, the conditions and reasons under which they were made, and, as a final result, provides a version of the last agreement on financial support of the Duke of Windsor, which carried out until his death in 1972. The details for the financial settlement for the Duke of Windsor, presented in this article, to our knowledge, are published in Russian for the first time. These materials can be used in teaching practice, as well as in further historical research on the crisis of the monarchy in 1936 in Great Britain.
