Cognitive aspects of maritime terminology

This article is devoted to the cognitive aspect of maritime terms researching. The cognitive study of terms used in professional maritime communication is quite interesting for linguists because it is associated with the national mentality and the cognition of the world around by native speakers. The author of the article draws attention to the conceptualization of reality by the terminological field construction touching on the semantic structure of the maritime concept SHIP in details. In the process of the researching the author comes to the conclusion that the cognitive approach to the study of maritime terms helps to reveal the peculiarities of these lexical units and their semantic specific features.
