A brief history of teaching Russian oral speech in China

This article is devoted to the history of teaching Russian in China. The authors of the article touch on the issues of a brief overview of the history of the methodology of teaching the Russian language in different periods of the existence of the Chinese state from the 18th century to the present. First of all, the article raises the issue of teaching the Russian language to the Chinese in the aspect of a communicative approach, since mastering oral speech is the very task of teaching Chinese citizens due to the large discrepancy between the two languages. Analyzing the main historical stages of teaching the Russian language in China, the authors identify the reasons for the insufficient knowledge of the Russian language by Chinese students of past eras and conclude that the effectiveness of teaching the language depends on the communicative approach, which assumes the possibility of oral speech interaction between the teacher and students.
