The syncretic approach is considered as a necessary methodological basis for the process of training a teacher-musician in the modern system of higher musical and pedagogical education, as a "basis for the interpretation of information" perceived by a person and expressed in a unique individual creative product of musical activity. It is proved that the syncretic approach to the study of the phenomenon of higher musical and pedagogical education is a special view of the system of activity of a teacher-musician, based on a holistic worldview, in which different spheres of activity form an arsenal of knowledge and skills accumulated by mankind and used by a teacher-musician in his work. The necessity of forming a syncretic style of thinking of a teacher-musician in the process of his training at the university is justified, since this style of thinking is aimed primarily at practical musical and performing activities, which use all the diverse experience of a musician and a person.

Keywords:syncretic approach, syncretic style of thinking of a teacher-musician, musical-pedagogical reality as a syncretic system, "natural syncretism", "artificial syncretism", variability of interpretive strategies of a teacher-musician.
