Personnel evolution of regional authorities in the mid-1950s-1980s (based on the materials from the Kuybishev region)

The article examines the functioning of the personnel of the party economic nomenklature during Khrushchev-Brezhnev and "perestroika" periods. The regional economic elite is characterized in terms of quantitative composition, education, social and professional characteristics. In shows sources sources of recruitment and "filters" for beind selection to party and nomenclature positions. The relationship between social mobility, emploement-related of nomenclature personnel and the pace of social and economic development of the region is substantiated.
