Problems of translating children’s fairy tales from Russian into English

The article considers some possible ways of achieving adequacy in the process of translating children’s fairy tales. The author pays attention to using pragmatic adaptation in this case. The assumption about the socio-cultural principles of adaptation of fairy tales during their translation is substantiated. It has been confirmed that adaptation in the process of translating fairy tales is aimed at achieving the equivalence of the original text and the translated one.
