The specificity of the prevalence of bilinguism in the educational environment

The article presents the problem of studying bilingualism as a socio-cultural phenomenon, its national and regional specificity in the conditions of active migration process on the territory of Russia, and the problem of integrating bilinguals into a modern school. The authors analyzes different ways of interpreting the concept of bilingualism, the tendencies of social development in a bilingual environment are considered. The authors cite the results of a survey on the prevalence of bilingualism in the educational environment in four subjects of the Russian Federation. An analysis of the specifics of national-regional bilingualism in the Chechen Republic and the Moscow region is presented. The practical potential of using the material is connected with the development of methodological support for the organization of psychological and pedagogical support for bilingual children's families.
