Wars of memory in the modern world (on the example of the memorial to the victims of fascism in the Zmievskaya beam of Rostov-on-Don)

The article presents the results of a study, the main purpose of which was to study the problem of preserving historical memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War, which allows explaining the subsequent development of Soviet society. The passing away of witnesses of the events of the war and post-war actions exacerbates the importance of conducting such studies, the results of which allow us to give a new character to previously formed images of the war by presenting confirmations of some historical data and identifying ways to verify the prevailing ideas about past events. In general, the task of the study can be considered to be the search for a solution to the problem associated with the reflection of the events of military history, affecting the ways of forming historical memory, significant for society's awareness of the transformational processes of modernity, which have a significant impact on its institutionalization and verification.
