Features of the implementation of the symmetrical opposition wealth / poverty in the Russian-language media discourse

The article represents an analysis of the implementation of the symmetric opposition “wealth” / “poverty” in the Russian-language discourse. The author identifies six categories of figures of speech that are used to reflect the opposition under consideration: oxymoron, gradation, syntactic parallelism, rhetorical question, antithesis and wordplay. It has been established that a feature of the media text is the manipulation of public consciousness, while "wealth" and "poverty" in the current social and economic situation is of great importance for a wide range of readers. In this regard, the considered symmetric opposition provides an opportunity to form a certain media picture of the world, which reflects the modern images of the Russian-language space of media text and media discourse.
