Gender approach in the study of provincial officialdom in the 1940s-early 1950s

In the 1940s - early 1950s, the tendency to involve women in the sphere of government and their representation in the state and party apparatus increased. This tendency intensifies during the years of the Great Patriotic War. The share of women - leading employees of regional executive committees with the pre-war period in the Arkhangelsk region increased by 50%, and in the Vologda region - by 30%. During the war years, the representation of women in the executive committees of the middle level of power in the Arkhangelsk region increased by 1.8 times, and in the Vologda region by 2.6 times. At the same time, the key positions in the apparatuses of the regional, district and rural levels of government continued to belong to men.
