Intellectual preparation of university students in physical education classes

The article describes the phenomenon of representation of the social phenomenon "Physical culture and sport" in the modern system of higher education and additional education. It is shown that in conditions exacerbated by the COVID - 19 pandemic, the subject of physical culture and sports goes beyond the previously established ideas about it. Traditional models of realization of the content of this academic discipline do not contribute today to the opportunity for students to realize their motor potential in the proper way. The search for ways to optimize the representation of physical culture and sports is actively conducted by industry experts. One of the ways that can dynamize this process is the explication of one of the types of training, namely the intellectual training of students. As an independent type of training, intellectual training is widely used in professional sports, which place the highest demands on the personality of an athlete. At the mass level, this type of training has not been a full-fledged ingredient in the training process until now, which, undoubtedly, has impoverished the entire process as a whole. The ongoing shift of emphasis in the field of realization of the physical potential of the individual from the generally significant to the individual has brought a lot of new things to the content of the classes. A component of personal responsibility for the physical status of students has emerged, with the expansion of a set of ethical maxims, while reducing the external regulation of the development process, which places increased demands on the intellectual development of the individual.
