Educational books on the French language of the first half of the XIX century: content, structure, methodological techniques

The article considers particulars of content and structure in textbooks on French language in the first half of the 19th century. An analysis of the historical period and the state of education at the indicated time is given. The article also presents an overview of influence of the Patriotic War of 1812 on the functioning of the French language in Russian society. Examples of French language textbooks of various genres (alphabets, conversations, grammars) are given, methods of teaching French proposed by the authors are singled out and described. Some of the methodological techniques of multilingual training used by the compilers of educational books in the first half of the 19th century are still relevant today.
