Teaching to read professionally-oriented texts in a foreign language as a key element of training graduates of a new formation at the Mining University

In the system of professionally-oriented foreign language teaching at a technical university, one of the important competencies is working with texts in the specialty. Reading professionally-oriented texts is the most important aspect of the process of teaching a foreign language at the Mining University, as it introduces students not only to language features, but also to professional vocabulary and scientific concepts. The main task when reading such texts for a future specialist is to obtain information necessary for further professional activity. The purpose of the study is to identify difficulties encountered by students when working with professionally-oriented texts of oil and gas, mining, exploration and construction directions. The scientific novelty lies in the analysis of the main difficulties that arise when reading special texts by students of the Mining University. As a result, special attention is paid to ways to overcome these difficulties in the educational process of the Mining University.
