This article aims to put an end to the existing question in public discourse about the involvement of the great commander A. V. Suvorov in the founding of Ekaterinodar, the main city of the Black Sea Cossacks. Based on the results of the analysis of an array of clerical sources, first of all, the correspondence of the government of the Black Sea Cossack Army with the office of the governor of the Taurida region, the authors conclude that it is untenable to correlate the fact of the founding of the city with the name of A. V. Suvorov.
