The article is devoted to the consideration of the features of the initial stage of the formation of the Nizhny Novgorod militia in 1806: the identification of the number of militia and the analysis of the class-corporate features of the era identified in the process of collecting the militia. Based on the study of the materials of the Central Archive of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the analysis of historiographical works, the general and special features of the local militia corps at an early stage of its formation are revealed.
