Means of representation of the concept "Fire" in Russian and English

The article presents the results of an analysis aimed at establishing the structure of the concept "fire" in Russian and English linguistic cultures. Using the methods of conceptual analysis, lexicographic analysis, the integral features of the core lexemes of the concept (“flame”, “burning” in Russian; “heat”, “light”, “flame”, “burning” in English) are established, on the basis of which structured the peripheral area of the concept "fire" in two languages. Peripheral lexemes were divided according to a semantic feature, which reflects the additional conceptual parameters of fire in Russian and English linguocultural understanding. It is concluded that the periphery of the concept "fire" in English is wider than in Russian, which is explained by the fact that the nominee of the concept "fire" in English demonstrates more integral features than "fire" in Russian.
