Comparative analysis of fiction text (based on A.P. Chekhov’s short-story "The man in a case" in English and Russian)

The purpose of the study is to identify the main means of expression in the material of A.P. Chekhov’s work “The Man in a Case” and a comparative analysis of the text in two languages. Tasks of the work: 1) analysis of the original text in Russian and the translated one in English; 2) classification and interpretation of the obtained results. An attempt was made by the authors of the article to study the story of A.P. Chekhov “The Man in a Case” in order to present the cognitive and pragmatic characteristics of the studied text in English and Russian. The work is promising in terms of receiving interesting and important theoretical and practical results for linguistic science. Used methods in the research: continuous sampling of examples from the text, classification and interpretation. In the process of work, a table demonstrating the main means of expression was created and authors’ interpretations were given.
