Analysis of the success of studying at a medical university based on the formation of psychological characteristics of a person

The article is devoted to the analysis of the progress of students in the specialty 31.05.03 "Dentistry", depending on the level of formation of various psychological characteristics of the individual. It was necessary to identify predictive criteria for learning success based on psychological indicators. For this, data on academic performance and the average score in theoretical disciplines and practical training of junior students were summarized, which were then correlated with the data of psychological testing. The average level of formal logical thinking and attentiveness, the ability to operate with concepts, abstract, find relationships, formulate hypotheses and substantiate conclusions, the average interest of students in the professions of the natural science profile, and a low level of ability to concentrate were established. Regardless of the average score, the third level of formation of interests prevailed, however, the level of formation of abilities with an increase in the average score increased to the third. Data have been obtained that make it possible to attribute to prognostic criteria indicators of the degree of formation on the scale "Manual labor", an aggregated indicator "Readiness to work as a doctor" and the coefficient of coincidence for working as a dentist. It is necessary to further study the relationship of personal psychological characteristics with the success of students in the university and further search for markers of academic performance.
