Classification and functions of information technologies in the development of professional competencies of future engineers

Information technologies are increasingly being used in various areas of life, including at all levels of education. One of the main tasks of informatization of higher education is the transition from passive teaching methods (lectures) to active ones, such as independent or collective work, research activities with a focus on practice, which makes the educational process more informative and affects the level of training of future engineers. The article discusses various definitions of information technologies, provides classification by attributes, and also, using methods of generalization, concretization and comparison, their relationship is shown. As a result of the conducted research, all technologies are divided into two main groups: the first is the interaction of a participant in the educational process with information and technical means of its presentation, and the second is the interaction of technical means with types of presentation of information. The article will be useful for graduate students, teachers of higher educational institutions, as well as a wide range of specialists in education, whose activity is the process of modernization of the learning process based on information technology.
