The influence of translation transformations on the reflection of the substantial information of a poetry (based on the poem by Gay Valerius Catullus Carmen 34)

The translation of a poetic work is a multifactorial process that requires taking into account many parameters of both the content of the work and its form. This paper deals with the problem of reflecting in translation the most important component of any speech act - substantial information. Based on the work of Gaius Valerius Catullus Carmen 34 and two versions of its translation by S.V. Shervinsky and O. Slavyanka, a comparative analysis of the ways of reflection substantial information, realized through vocabulary, is carried out. The final goal of the work is to identify the degree of reflection of the substantial information of the original text in various versions of its translation and the degree of correspondence of the translations to each other. The result of the analysis shows that even in the case of a wide variability of the ways of reflecting the original information of the text and a low degree of correspondence of the translations to each other, at the level of vocabulary, the translated text can be highly equivalent to the original at the lexical level. The relevance of this study lies in the expansion of the use of comparative methods in the framework of the information theory of translation. The novelty of the work lies in the consideration of previously unexplored material in the key of information theory.
