The importance of ancient languages (Latin) in the formation of modern specialists

The training of any specialist provides for the development of a certain subject cycle, the tendency to reduce which currently puts program developers in front of the need to divide disciplines into more or less significant ones. Thus, living languages are a priority at language faculties. In addition, the current situation requires, in general, a revision of the educational process for a generation limited by the horizons of the tick-tok and with a consciousness, relatively speaking, formatted by the developers of such content. In this regard, preference is reasonably given to the disciplines of pedagogical orientation. However, the educational process is also carried out by means of professional subjects. This article, based on the analysis of university programs, substantiates the need to adjust curricula towards subject balance for a harmoniously developed personality on the one hand and full-fledged training of a specialist on the basis of really significant disciplines on the other. The question of the formulation of competencies in relation to dead languages, which are basic for modern languages, is also considered, ways and techniques for improving the process of teaching Latin are proposed using concrete examples.
