The emotive potential of the independent als ob - sentences in the German language

The authors aim at the determination and description of the emotive potential of the als ob - sentences in the German language. The article considers the correlation between the comparative clauses and independent als ob - sentences and determines their distinctive features. The results of the research state that the independent als ob - sentence are limited to the choice of the mood of the verb, they can't use the adverb so in constructing a sentence and can be independent. The authors of the article find out emotive peculiarities of the sentences starting with the conjunction als ob. The examples from the German corpus have been analysed and it has been shown that the given type of sentences expresses extremely negative emotions of different intensity (disappointment, uneasiness, irritation, anger).
