Current changes in the vocabulary of the modern German language

Iskandarova Gulnara Rifovna  (Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor, Professor of Chair of foreign and Russian languages, Ufa Law Institute of the Interior of Russia)

The article discusses the main trends in the development of the lexical system of the German language at the present stage. The analysis involves language units selected from electronic media, online forums, and printed publication using the continuous sampling method. It has been established that under the influence of extralinguistic and intralinguistic factors, processes of lexico-semantic, word-formation variation, abbreviation, metaphorization, euphemization, determinologization occur, the boundaries between oral and written language form and styles are erased. Lexical changes lead to the simplification of the language norm and the removal of restrictions. Theoretical provisions and conclusions, supported by linguistic material, can be successfully used in the practice of teaching the German language to students of philological specialties.
