The influence of translator’s personality on the author’s individual style

The article focuses on the problems of preserving the peculiarities of the author’s individual style while translating S. Chbosky’s novels from English into Russian. The paper’s objective was to study subjective factors of literary translation, namely, translator’s linguistic personality. The conducted translation analysis proved that the translator made a great impact on the target language texts, making ample use of colloquial vocabulary, such as slang and vulgarisms. That leads to a distorted view of speech profiles of the characters. Thus, alternative variants of translation that convey key elements of the author’s writing style were provided.
