The potential of mathematical disciplines in the formation of information competence

The article considers the competence approach as one of the leading ones in the education system. A number of "key" competencies are identified based on the analysis of the theory and practice of the competence approach, namely information competence. Since representatives of various sciences are engaged in the study of the problem of the formation of students' information competence in the process of professional training, its formation is achievable by tracking the potential and capabilities of mathematical disciplines. The possibilities contributing to the formation of information competence of future engineers through the potential of mathematical disciplines are presented. Based on the analysis of the potential of mathematical disciplines in the formation of information competence, it was presented in the form of a system and differentiated into general subject, subject-oriented and methodological competencies.
